I will gladly take the huge loss if it means that I didn't put him in the #1 spot at all. I feel bad for little David - he's going to get the shit kicked out of him tonight! Nah, but he did need it more than Cook - Cook was going to sell more records no matter what the outcome, but I think Archuleta will sell less without the title.

Congrats Shmuel & Mo Pie!

Wow. I'm totally just seeing this for the first time now. I have been nowhere near the TV for the past few days, really. Sounds like it was an interesting finale, at least.

Whatthehell.

1. David Archuleta
2. David Cook

...if I'm wrong, Mo can potentially tie me for first place. But I'm pretty sure I'm sunk.

(Pam on
May 20, 2008 9:39 PM)

Archuleta KILLED it, man. Nice! I hope that wipes that smug look off of that smarmy bastard's face. And I really hope he can pull it off - I want him to win. I said before the show, "David Archuleta is going to sing 'Imagine' and Cook is going to do either 'Hello' or 'Billie Jean.'" He really should have listened to me and Simon if he wanted a chance. He just sang the unplugged version of that song - he didn't make it his own. And that song is fine and all, but it's not a song that you sing in the final round of the finale of American Effing Idol if you want to win. He deserves to lose. I will cheer if he does.

WHY DO THEY HAVE TO KEEP SHOWING CONSTANTINE???!!!

Ahem.

Second verse, same as the first:

1. Archuleta
2. Effing Cook

If Cook wins, which I thought was a definite before tonight, then I will happily take last place for my refusal to ever put him in the #1 spot. Luck to you, [my last name redacted in a futile attempt to deter Google —Shmuel].

(mo pie on
May 21, 2008 1:19 AM)

Okay, I will be strategic, even though I think Archuleta has it in the bag. (As does Ian, who liveblogged with me tonight.)

1. Cook
2. Archuleta

I may as well go down fighting!

Dagnabbit.
Okay so yeah, I don't know how to look up the over all scores. I seem to remember not being able to view them on my ancient beast of a machine over here... but I haven't tried this season..don't remember where...
I didn't see the show. I don't remember why.
Fantasia... was what she performed something new or what? I haven't heard much, but then, I don't listen to the radio very often either...
I like cooking, not Cook. Grrrr.
Bummy.

(Shmuel on
May 16, 2008 12:06 AM)

You can view the spreadsheet, with the current scores, over here. Currently TeKay has 11 points, Jesse has 7, and the rest of us are between the two, with a whole lot of points riding on the finals.

At first glance, it looks like Pam stands to win the thing if Archuleta wins, and that I do if Cook does, but I have not actually done the math yet.

Did everyone hear me yell, "GAVIN!" when he popped up on screen? No? Just me? Okay, moving on....

First, David Archuleta should NEVER be allowed to sing about "my boo" and baby mamas.

Second, I was SO pleased that David Cook's second song sucked because I still hate his stupid ass.

Third, GAVIN!

Fourth, Archuleta's first song RULED.

Fifth, Randy Jackson has finally become utterly useless now.

And why does Paula always choose the best song?

1. Archuleta
2. Effing Cook
3. Syesha

Clicking on "comments" still leads to "invalid request" FYI, I had to click on the time to be able to leave a comment, usually I have to click on the commentary, but since there was none..yeah.
Anyway..
Actually caught about half of the show, I think.
Shocking.

1. Archuleta

2. Cook (I really, really just strongly dislike him...really.)

3. Syesha (I did kinda like her performances that I saw, but yeah, I think she may be gone)

(Shmuel on

More comments have been added to the main entry... much as I'm tempted to reverse the bottom two, I'm gonna go with:

1. Cook
2. Archuleta
3. Mercado

(mo pie on

2. Archuleta
3. Syesha

Thanks for the reminder, Shmuel!!

Oh, by the way... Pam, I'd just like to note that Paula was the one who saddled Clay with "Vincent" back in Season Two.

(CRR on
May 15, 2008 1:24 AM)

David Cook sang "I Don't Want to Miss a Thing" and I missed it? Aww, man. That's one of my favorite songs. I'll have to listen to this soon.

The new landlord is remodelling the house. It would seem that earlier today this had the side effect of knocking out my cable, and thus my TV, Internet, and phone service. Comcast says that there's a wider outage in the Boston area, and even though I can actually see where the cables have been ripped out of the place, their computers won't let them register this as a separate issue; If I still lack service in the morning, when the wider outage has been solved, I am instructed to call back then.

Upshot is that I'm missing Idol tonight. Fortunately, one of my neighbors has an unsecured wifi network (and either his cable is working, or he has DSL), which is how I'm getting this message out. Pool picks go here, as usual...

archuleta
cook
syesha

i'm flip flopping on the middle two; if syesha's not in the bottom two tonight, she's definitely going to the final. that was some good crying she did.

(Jesse on
May 7, 2008 12:35 PM)

Okay, I didn't see it last night because I had rehearsal, and I don't even know what they all even sang and don't have time to look right now because I have to go get to the doc's FUN!!!
So... Just in case I don't get to research it and such before tonight (I don't know if I'll be back)
Here's a "just in case" again:

Archuleta
Cook
Jason
Syesha

I really honestly don't know what to think though. I don't have a particular soft spot for any of them, except that I think Jason and Archuleta are kinda cute and Syesha I never took a liking to and Cook is a snot and a half and I just simply do. not. want. but anyway.... yeah.

(Shmuel on
May 7, 2008 12:41 PM)

The cable guy is coming by Saturday morning, which means I'm gonna miss the results show as well.

I'm going to hope that Jason's number is finally up, and I'm going to continue to assume that David Cook's going to win the thing. Absent having seen the performances, I'm going with tactics; I've had Archie in third more often than not, and I want to hedge that bet. So:

1. David Cook
2. Davy Baby
3. Syesha Mercado
4. Jason Castro

(Shmuel on
May 7, 2008 7:35 PM)

Pam e-mailed these picks:

1. Archuleta
2. Cook
3. Syesha
4. Jason

(Pam on
May 7, 2008 10:03 PM)

He clearly wanted out. I'll miss his tight pants.

Constantine? Thank God I don't watch the results shows.

And Bedingfield RULES, Shmuel. You didn't know this?

(Shmuel on

Honestly, I'm not sure where Brooke's voting bloc is going to turn. Could be Jason (sympathy vote), could be Syesha (last girl standing).

I saw Natasha Bedingfield at one of those MixFests or whatever it was called that time, at Agannis... with BNL (yay) and Meat Loaf (who sucked worse than he did with McPhee for the 4 songs they let him sing) and walked out on James Blunt but I digress... never HEARD of?! McPhee sang "unwritten" like 4 times that season, didn't she? ;)
I gotta say that "Pocket Full of Sunshine" is quite catchy.

(Shmuel on
May 1, 2008 10:41 AM)

Okay, I'll grant the possibility that I've heard of her, but if so I'd forgotten. Perhaps it would be more accurate to say that I've been unaware of her. :-)

Anyway, I shall most assuredly be downloading her MP3s.

Oh man - I have NO idea who is going home this week. Jason is just phoning it in now. I think he wants out, but I'm hoping his tight jeans will keep him in so I can keep looking at him. Syesha was the best in the first round, but her second one not so much. She could get the pity vote, but America really doesn't like her. Cook sucked on his first song, but did really well on his second. Ditto Brooke. All that smiling during I'm a Believer made me want to hit her. And Archuleta? Let's just say that before the show started, I told my mother that I would vote for anyone who sang 'America' unless it was David Cook - in his case, I'd cut him some slack this week. So I voted for the first time this season because 'America' and I are in love. How can you not secretly love that song, Shmuel???? It RULES. Especially the whole 'My country 'tis of thee' part. I also may have voted for anyone who sang 'Love on the Rocks,' but alas. For the record, I did curse at my TV when David Cook let out a particularly smarmy grin when someone cheered for him. Who is going? AAAGGGHH!! I don't know. I say bottom two are Jason and Syesha - I have a feeling Jason may go, but I'm not going to put him down because - well, he's hot, dude. HOT.

1. Archuleta
2. Effing Cook
3. Brooke
4. Jason
5. Syesha

But based on reading this, I am keeping my choices posted yesterday afternoon.

What I didn't consider was that it might also alienate Christian voters.

Ah, crap - I hate it when David Cook is really good. The judges were a bit tough tonight, because I thought Archuleta was the best one as he was the one who made the song completely different and "contemporary" as Simon is always going on about. Oh, and Brooke needs to go home. I agreed with Paula - you don't do that - other people have flubbed lyrics and survived. You trudge on, girl.

Anyhoo, let's just throw some names out, shall we?

1. Archuleta
2. Cook because I still refuse to put him first
3. Castro
4. Carly
5. Syesha
6. Brooke

After this week, I may really shake up my ranks. Methinks Arch is actually going to go out 4th.

Personally, I'm torn between Jason and Brooke going home this week, but y'all are probably right. Even Brooke's remaining fans may be ready to put her out of her misery by now.

Hoo boy, I have no idea. Syesha sang one of my all-time favorite Mariah songs, but I don't think most people will know it. David Cook's lower register is not good - why don't they acknowledge that? He's a good belter, but low = no. And I didn't think Brooke was very good - I got all nervous with the poor girl shaking as well. I fear for Carly, even though I thought she rocked it out. Castro continues to make me want to rape him. I think Syesha will stay one more week, but it would be awesome if she went this week with Vanishing as her sing-out. Ha!

1. Archuleta
2. David Cook
3. Jason Castro
4. Brooke
5. Carly
6. Syesha
7. Kristy

1. David Archuleta
2. Jason Castro [can i just marry him and his tight pants right now...that was beautiful. I wished he'd slowed it down just a bit...too poppy for the song content, but still great.]
3. David Cook [he cannot sing well.]
4. Carly Smithson [I refuse to belive that Carly will go before Kristy. Jesus]
5. Kristy Lee Cook [I wish I had Mariah's crack so that I could have goosebumps all the time too]
6. Syesha [How do people nt know Vanishing...it was one of her biggest earlier hits!!!! she did a great job].
7. Brooke White [that sucked]

4. Jason Castro

Most of us think Syesha is finally heading home; Mo is the lone dissenter, and is predicting an upset of Carly. I personally voted for her about two dozen times to try to keep that from happening.

Wow. Nutty.
I watched NBC last night.
I don't even usually like Earl but Alyssa Milano was on it.
30 Rock... I almost spit my water out when they said one phrase because the BF says it all the time. Heh.
Jon Krasinski's mom and my mom have the same name.
Oh, right, this is an Idol blog... umm... on ER, they played a song while John Stamos was on the screen, which because of uncle Jesse was a very humerous choice when it shouldn't have been... and uhh,,, John Stamos sings.... so yeah..music... Idol... there you go. :P
