Top 13: Performances

It's Michael Jackson week!

As I've been saying for years, I hate single-artist weeks... but if you're going to do them, I suppose this is a good choice.

Two people will be eliminated this week! Which is pretty much what I expected.

...and I'm working on four hours of sleep, which is not helping.

For those interested, I'm now live-twittering American Idol at @idolannex, thus getting it out of my system without annoying everybody who follows my primary Twitter account.

Loved Anoop, admittedly not because his singing was all that. He's just fun. And, yes, Adam was the best of the night from a vocal standpoint.

Apparently they're going to be announcing a rule change tomorrow night that messes with the show's core concept. It's implied that it'll involve the judges having some input on who gets to stay... but that may be an intentionally misleading implication. I fear change.

At this point, no idea who's gonna be dropped. I'll post my pool predictions in a comment after I think it through.

People, I can NOT do a whole season of Adam Lambert. Come on now. He is seriously the super-gay baby of Constantine and David Cook, except he's got miles more talent. The guy can seriously sing, but what a jackass. Chill, dude. There's always got to be at least one for me every year, doesn't there? Lord. And I bet he's going to be around for a while.

On the plus side, I like a lot of the contestants this year and I am OBSESSED with Blindy, and not because of his singing. He needs to make the tour. Please make that happen. I just voted. I also told my mother before the show began that I would vote for anyone who sang PYT, and God bless you, Danny Gokey, because you made that an easy vote for me. Love him.

Anyhoo - I wonder if the big change will have the judges picking who goes from the bottom two? We'll see!

So I guess I have to rank now, don't I? HMMM! Jorge should be one of the ones going, but I think he's got a big voting base so he'll make it. Methinks Kris Allen is going to get lost in the shuffle somewhere along the way as well. But let's just throw stuff and see what sticks, shall we?

1. Danny
2. Allison
3. Adam (kill me now)
4. Lil (or LaToya London, as I like to call her)
5. Alexis
6. Scott
7. Matt
8. Anoop (LOVE Anoop)
9. Jorge
10. Kris
11. Michael
12. Jasmine
13. Megan

And Danny Noriega! Definite Danny Noreiga vibe. Except, yeah, he can actually sing.

(And, hey, it took me a year, but I finally fixed the comment links on the index page...)

I don't see Jorge leaving this week. He wasn't that bad, and he ought to have a solid voting bloc behind him.

Megan wasn't great, but she sure wasn't forgettable, and I can see how her performance might have struck people as a fun change of pace.

Allison reminded me of a more stable Amanda Overmeyer last night. I wish I'd remembered that she was also the one who did "Alone" in the semi-finals; I might have ranked her a bit higher over in the Weetapidol pool. But then I might not have. It's always hard to predict at this stage...

Anyway, here goes:

1. Adam Lambert
2. Alexis Grace
3. Danny Gokey
4. Lil Rounds
5. Scott MacIntyre
6. Jorge Núñez
7. Allison Iraheta
8. Anoop Desai
9. Matt Giraud
10. Michael Sarver
11. Megan Joy Corkrey
12. Jasmine Murray
12. Kris Allen

did they say necessarily that the person saved was the second lowest vote getter?

I have thots that I will post tomorrow to save the west coasters.

Okay, I don't even know if there was a show tonight or what happened. I had appointments all day and did not get home til after 10pm and pretty much just finished going through my e-mail and that's it.
Saw my first almost-full episode since auditions weeks on MJ night and thought it was pretty entertaining.
I don't really have a solid love/hate for anyone just now, but my opinion at the moment is pretty in line with yours, Shmuel, as far as I can tell anyway since I don't know everyone's name yet... so I am copy & pasting your answers to avoid more typing before I pass the heck out!

1. Adam Lambert
2. Alexis Grace
3. Danny Gokey
4. Lil Rounds
5. Scott MacIntyre
6. Jorge Núñez
7. Allison Iraheta
8. Anoop Desai
9. Matt Giraud
10. Michael Sarver
11. Megan Joy Corkrey
12. Jasmine Murray
12. Kris Allen

Jesse: okay, but I'm expecting original picks next week. :-)

TeKay: I didn't actually see last night's episode (see my latest entry), but based on the recaps, it doesn't seem as if we know who came in third to last. To quote MJ: "Megan Joy Corkrey and Anoop Desai stood center stage with Jasmine and Jorge respectively, but Ryan never called the pairings 'the bottom two.' I suspect neither of them were near the bottom. Anoop certainly wasn't cause he's got peeps."

Shmuel: That's exactly what I was alluding to. I still don't think that Allison had enough of a fan base to beat all four of the people that were called on stage. I know my Alma Mater is rallying around Anoop.
