Shmuel's Soapbox: American Idol Annex

Hoo boy, they sucked it up royally last night. What the hell? Thank God for Paris and Elliott - Bucky was ctaully good as well. But the rest? I've seen better, folks. And Ace and I have officially broken up. We were on thin ice after the sunglasses-hanging-out-of-pants-pocket incident from last week, and this week just sealed the deal. #1 - he sucked #2 - he brought an ugly brother and #3 - the opening the shirt to show the scar? No. Just no. We're through!

Also - if you think I didn't freak out joyously when my boy Elliott sang my baby Gavin DeGraw's song, then you are sorely mistaken. Anyway, let's get to this. I'm mixing it up this week.

oh what to do what to do! As anyone else sick of the self-referentialism this show has become. oh you are clay aiken, oh i'm singing kelly clarkson, bo bice inspired me to be on the show! must destroy the television.

performance wise (2000 songs SHOULD NOT HAVE BEEN ALLOWED)

Paris -- horrible beyonce choice to show off fun. gah. but she was definitely the best of the night.

Taylor -- i agreed with Paula, it was nice seeing him just standing there and singing that awful awful repetitive song. praise DVR!

Mandisa -- one of my all-time favorite songs. This was just above disastrous, but she was working.

Chris -- I HATE CREED, funny that they let him talk about the LIVE incident of last week. I listened to 3 secs of his performance. but it is chris and he is almost deity-like on this show. he truly is in a league of his own. (great movie by the way...w00t for the Will and Grace reference).

Katharine -- um ew girl, you should have rocked Beautiful. Remember fantasia's transcendence when she did Summertime (with the screwed up lyrics and all). too much pyro, not a lot of substance.

Elliott -- the arrangment was horrible. he seemed lost in the beat the entire time.

Bucky -- for once he sang a song.

Kellie: i hate her performances and am tired of her.

Ace -- DROPS OF JUPITER are you PHUCING KIDDING ME! ace: you are gorgeous, but you are killin yourself in this competition.

Lisa -- where oh where did the talented tucker go?

I am way, way over Ace, and I'm starting to get over Kellie, too. But I don't see any evidence that the rest of America is over her, so far.
