A Short One About Constantine

As some of you may have gathered, I currently think Constantine is the finalist most likely to become the next American Idol. I confess that while I hadn't thought much of him at the start of the semifinals, or even the finals, he's been growing on me in the weeks since then. I've felt that the boy's got moxie, and that he does better when he's not trying to be a rocker.

With that said, Annie -- y'all who were here last year probably remember Annie; she's been watching the episodes on tape this year due to a crazy-busy schedule, but she's otherwise alive and well -- made a wonderfully trenchant observation the other day. And I quote:

Constantine deserves to win American Idol because he's precisely the sort of multi-media famewhore hack that AI has always wanted but never quite managed to get.
I know the Ring of Truth™ when I hear it.

See, I think Constantine is likely to be in the final two, but I don't think he has a shot to win it. My thoughts are that if CLAY can't win, then Constantine never will. I just think Clay has a more rabid fan base. But we'll see. In any event, Pray For The Soul of Betty just got signed to a deal, so he'll be all set.

I like Constantine, but have been torn as to how much to favour him being that he is basically already a professional. That has been my only problem with him.
I agree that he will do just fine no matter what.
Someone in another group I am in said something about how this is "American Idol" and not "Pop Idol" and I had to disagree. AI stems from PI and the word "Pop" has been thrown around like crazy in recent years.
This year, that has lessened. I am glad about that, as I think that they are opening their monds and allowing for more diversity.
As much of a Carrie fan as I am... I will admit that Constantine is by far more diverse.
I know he will do well.
I just hope America does a better job with the voting really soon!
