Top 4: Results!

Was I a traitor in this week's predictions? Perhaps. Certainly a rat deserting a sinking ship. But I was right!

For those in the usual blizzard of search-engine visitors, Fantasia and LaToya were in the bottom two, and LaToya went home this week.

(Heather, Mo, and I all pick up one point this week, BTW.)

In other news entirely, I've picked up a copy of Kimberley Locke's album, and, of the five AI-related albums I own (Kelly, Clay, Kim, AI1 finalists, AI2 finalists), this one is totally the best. Recommended.

Hey apparently the word has been leaked as to who's received the top votes the past 2-3 weeks...

1. Diana
2. Jasmine
3. Fantasia

That last show is going to suck hardcore.

Well, Jasmine was in the bottom two last week -- and, according to the show's executive producer, she was less than 200 votes from getting voted off in place of George -- so those rankings can't have been that consistent...

(That article requires registration; here's the only relevant paragraph: "[Executive producer Ken] Warwick responded to questions about 'Idol' voting by saying the system is fair and overseen by independent auditors. He also said the voting can be extremely close -- last week more than 26 million call-in and text-message votes were cast, yet under 200 voted [sic] separated Trias and George Huff, who was sent home.")

I'm feeling pretty confident that Jasmine's going home next. Remember, Fantasia coming in third this week was with LaToya still in the running. I don't think many of LaToya's fans are likely to be backing Jasmine next week.

(Substitute "Tamyra" for "LaToya" and "Nikki" for "Jasmine" and you get the precedent for this.)

I officially hate everyone and everything.

Yah, my feeling is that the only reason Jasmine stayed this week is because of the tears causing, as Shmuel said, her fans to wear out their redial buttons. I really should've taken that into consideration -- that and LaToya's personality. Ah well.

I voted this week for both Diana and LaToya. Maybe it's because LaToya was a local girl, but I had a hell of a time getting through on her line (this an hour and a half into our voting time).

A fascinatingly plausible hypothesis that hadn't occurred to me is in this article:

Hawaii is six hours behind the East Coast. And because of that time difference those viewers might enjoy a less-crowded calling period to cast votes.
