Got to see this one live. Yay!
Okay, for posterity, the bottom three this week were Jasmine, George, John, the bottom two were George and John, and at the end of the night, the redhead finally went home. Yay!
I'm not sure whether I'm happier about the fact that we won't have to listen to John anymore, or the fact that this will presumably put an end to all the the-sky-is-falling-and-Idol-is-dead stories. (You'd think Nikki and Josh never existed...) Good times.

Posted by: Heather Shaw at April 29, 2004 12:37 PMYep. In fact, you're currently in the lead with five points, having predicted John would depart this week on three occasions. Barring a retroactive post from Annie, she's in second place with four points (her placement of John in last rolling over from the week before), followed by me with three, followed by a tie between Mo and TeKay with two apiece. [You guys know where to find the spreadsheet.]
By the way, this likely deserves an entry of its own, but the guys at Foxes on Idol did the math and got some interesting results...
There were 28 million votes. We know that John got four million of 'em. That leaves 24 million. Even if George got only one vote more than John, that means there were only 20 million votes to go around to the other four. That's an average of five million each. Obviously, some had more, some less, but there isn't a lot of room for maneuvering. We know that Jasmine could not have had less than four million (or, really, four million plus a few more than George). So, without going even further into it and requiring all of you to get your calculators out, let's sum it up like this: It was close. It was really close. The difference between most of the votes was probably pretty slim, considering.Posted by: Shmuel at April 29, 2004 1:37 PM
Dammit!! You know, I picked the right bottom three this week, for the first time ever. And then I forgot to post it. I could've cemented my lead. ;)
