Monday, February 22, 2010 3:48 PM: An IM conversation with My Sister The Graphic Designer Shmuel: As usual, a whole bunch of my online friends are going to WisCon in May. As usual, I've started considering the possibility of going myself. As usual, I'm deciding that this year would be too much of a stretch, but maybe next year. [wry smile] Mary Anne's actually one of the two Guests of Honor this year. MSTGD: Cool! :) Shmuel: [nod!] ...which is one reason why I'm still wavering on that decision. MSTGD: [nod] Shmuel: It's like, if there's one year when I get to it, shouldn't it maybe be this one? MSTGD: have you ever gone? Shmuel: ...contrariwise, one might argue this would be the year to avoid it, 'cause she'll be too busy to do more than say "hi." :-) Nope. Been considering it for... oh, eight years now, including when I was in Ann Arbor and a shorter trip away. Memorial Day weekend. It's like, it'd be fun, and interesting, and I'd see a bunch of people I almost never get to see. And it'd also take time and a fair amount of money. MSTGD: [nod] I've never been to a con partly 'cause I imagine to be way too expensive. Shmuel: [nod] I also still occasionally fantasize about going back to the Popular / American Culture Association in the South conference, perhaps with the paper I wanna write about LOLspeak. MSTGD: you should write that already Shmuel: I should.
