It turns out that the incoming landlord has not actually decided whether or not to keep me as a tenant. He hasn't really done the landlord thing before, and he's acutely aware that this is his one chance to play the Get Rid Of Tenant Free card without any risk of legal repercussions. On the one hand, from all accounts I'm an excellent tenant; on the other hand, I don't have a steady job and he's afraid that I won't be able to pay the rent but will nonetheless stay around for months and put up legal roadblocks preventing him from evicting me for nonpayment. Having watched the six o'clock news on occasion, I can understand that particular fear. I find that while I would very much like to stay put, I'm also ready to shift gears and start planning a move back to New York. But until he makes up his mind, I'm still in limbo. Limbo sucks. Meanwhile, the temp gig that was supposed to have gotten underway this past week really and truly is to get underway this week. Or so I'm told. (I did pick up a few hours here and there on another project in the interim.) And again I repeat: limbo sucks. Finally, some people from the bank are coming by on Monday morning to give the house a thorough inspection. I've been doing some intensive decluttering, the net result of which is that the apartment now looks like it's been hit by a tornado. So I should probably get back to that... Comments by HaloScan. |
