11:55 PM: Holidailies is here again!

This has not been a good year for this journal, or indeed for me. That the front page of the blog still shows entries from my last stab at Holidailies should be enough to give that idea.

Nevertheless, I've signed up again, and I'm hoping I'll manage to keep up my end of the deal this year. So, welcome!

As I do every year, I'm going to start with a general roundup of who I am, and what I've been up to.
  • Me: Shmuel, at your service. I'm a 34-year-old English-language geek.

  • My journal: I started this journal in January 1999, and it probably shows in the design. Some years, I even post entries to it!

  • Employment: Currently at a standstill, which is a problem. My dream job fell apart at the start of the year. I had a decent temp gig going one entry back, and that went "poof" at the end of a month, due to corporate complications that had nothing to do with me. The bright side is that my once-boss is giving me a wildly enthusiastic recommendation; the downside is that I'm once again unemployed and deep in debt. Fun.

  • Medication: I've run out of Wellbutrin, but a half-dose of the Celexa seems to be working, as evidenced by the fact that I'm not a basket case at the moment. Yay, meds!

  • Social/Romantic Life: None.

  • Legal Update: Earlier this week, I gave a deposition for our lawsuit against the manufacturer of the van involved in the crash that left me without part of an eyelid and put my mother in a wheelchair. In 1999. The wheels of justice take their time about turning...

  • Second Life: Considerably better than my First Life. Which is about all I'm inclined to say about it here.

  • Living Conditions: In an apartment I like a great deal, and hope to keep. The house is all but sold, with the new owner to take possession in mid-January. Apparently he's inclined to keep me as a tenant, but he'll need the rent on time every month, no exceptions. As I have yet to pay November's rent, and I'm looking for work, this is not a small problem.

  • Food: I just had some tortilla chips with salsa. Yay!

  • Happy Birthday: to Phebe!
More to follow, with any luck...
