7:03 PM:

Friday Five:

  1. Were you raised in a particular religious faith?
Yep. Orthodox Judaism. Lubavitch family; Yeshivish education.
  2. Do you still practice that faith? Why or why not?
Orthodox Judaism, yes. Lubavitch, not a chance. The Yeshivish influence has been harder to shake. But there's no question that the level of my observance in general has been slipping, and that this trend has been accelerating lately...
  3. What do you think happens after death?
You're judged for how you lived your life. If necessary (and it's usually necessary), you're packed off to Purgatory for a spell to cleanse you of your sins, followed by Heaven and/or reincarnation. Eventually, the End of Days will come, followed by the afterlife. (This is way oversimplified, but for a three-sentence synopsis, it ain't bad.)
  4. What is your favorite religious ritual (participating in or just observing)?
Probably the megillah reading on Purim; particularly the cantillation at the start of verse 2:15.
  5. Do you believe people are basically good?
No, people are basically neutral, having the capacity to choose whatever sort of actions they want, be those good, evil, selfish, altruistic, or whatever.

I'm as fond of Yanni's music as the next person, but isn't it kinda strange that he's released more compilations of his greatest hits than actual albums?

Once again, by way of my sister:

Obsessive Compulsive!
Which Personality Disorder Do You Have?

brought to you by Quizilla

I'm much more cluttered than the above suggests, but there's some truth to this...

10:32 AM:

Another Wednesday, another bout of insomnia leaving me with two hours of sleep on which to face the discussion sections I'm running.

Something needs to be done about this...
