First and foremost, messages of support have been flooding into my Inbox, and I greatly appreciate it. (And, no, none of your guys have gotten too nosy or remotely stalkerish, which I mention only because several of you seemed concerned that you might have.)

Second, barely-restained curiosity has been just behind the support in many of those messages, and, indeed, I have lots more to write here. Background to be provided, clarifications to be made, further developments to be reported. A couple of you have asked some really good questions. The preceding entry turns out to have been somewhat misleading, largely because I oversimplified, in an effort to avoid having to go on for hours giving background information that (a) I've managed to keep out of this journal until now, and (b) I've decided needs to be explained now for any of this stuff to make sense.

In the meantime, however, I've got reading to make up and classes to attend; no matter what else happens, I really can't afford to let this semester slide. So stay tuned...
