1:06 AM:

A number of other diarists have been reporting having seen spectacular sights in the heavens this past Saturday night. Something about a meteor shower.

Well, spectacular sights were seen here on Saturday night also, despite a thick fog. I refer to the midnight showing of South Park: Bigger, Longer, and Uncut at a local theatre. Which I attended, partly because I really wanted to, and partly as a reward for having somehow survived giving a class presentation this past Friday. (I still hadn't been sure what I'd be talking about a couple of hours before class. In desperation, I decided to play to my strengths, comparing Joan of Arc and Buffy the Vampire Slayer. It went pretty well.)

The theatre in question turned out to have stadium-style seating. This can be good, in that it affords everybody an unimpeded view of the screen; it also can be bad, in that such theatres tend to be most likely to have no legroom. Both factors were in play here. I ended up resting my feet on the edge of the seat in the next row down for most of the film, but then that got uncomfortable, and I settled for repositioning myself uncomfortably for the remainder of the show.

Still a great film, though.

In other news, I depart for New York on Greyhound tomorrow afternoon, returning about a week later. I don't know for certain if I'll be updating in the interim, but I tend to doubt it.

On the bright side, I'm planning on joining Jette's HoliDailies project, pledging to update every single day in December, so hopefully you'll be seeing more stuff here in the nearish future. Although I should probably tell Jette that already.
