One class down, five to go. Stayed up all of Tuesday night finishing some painting, brought in my portfolio on Wednesday (missing my last Linguistics class doing so, as I had to wait a while for my painting professor to finish with her current students), somehow stayed conscious through most of my Political Science class Wednesday night. Slept last night, for a change. Nutrition final today. Stay tuned. Tuesday, May 15, 2001
Oh my gosh. I'd known, of course, that Rosie O'Donnell had started her own magazine, Rosie. What I hadn't known was that it replaced McCall's. My gosh. Rosie took over one of the Seven Sisters! How did I avoid finding this out before now?! I'm obviously out of touch with the publishing biz. This never would have gotten past me a few years ago. Yeesh. Pardon me; I'm still in a state of mild shock. It'll pass. Postscripts:

Blogger's been really flaky for the past couple of days, which is why the previous two items still haven't been posted, as of when I type this. I'm hoping that that's changed now, and that this stuff will make it out. We'll see, I suppose. In the meantime, I've just heard from my prospective landlord in Michigan, and -- inexplicably enough -- my credit rating's checked out, and I can get the apartment I saw when I was there. I have some reservations about the landlord (the current occupant of said apartment had made it clear that she didn't want people looking at the place without being notified first... which didn't stop 'em from showing me the place), but the apartment itself appeared to have everything I wanted. It has a bathtub, it has adequate storage space, it's a few blocks from the school buildings I'll be spending the most time at, it's in a relatively quiet part of town, and it's just inside the price range I'm willing to pay. And the rooms are even laid out in a non-bizarre manner, which isn't a given in those parts. Now I just need the deposit, equal to 1.5 months rent. The current game plan is to stall until my tax refund comes in, then use that for most of it. How I'm gonna pay June's rent at my current apartment then becomes the next question, but one crisis at a time. Still, I have a place to live! I won't have an apartment search hanging over my head this summer! This is good news. Sunday, May 13, 2001
Let's see, on the agenda for this week... Read a book for my political science class and be prepared to talk about Chapter Six on Monday night. Spend Tuesday making up all the painting I was supposed to have done last semester, to be shown to my professor on Wednesday. Read nutrition textbook, for final on Thursday. If possible, write another essay or two for my provocative language tutorial. That'll do for starters. If entries are few and far between this week, it''ll be because I'm busy with the above; if entries are frequent this week, it'll be because I'm putting off doing the above. I'm sort of hoping for the former. 4:25 PM:
Act fast, because this paper reportedly has a seven-day archive, and this editorial is from this past Monday, which means it's due to vanish tomorrow... but this is a great summary of an obituary for the creator of Cliffs Notes. (Found through CopyEditing-L.) |
