Just like a prayer / Your voice will take me there... --Madonna |
Wednesday, November 17, 1999 Stay Tuned Okay, I had a whole entry planned here, but I ended up spending the time revising a poem for tomorrow's poetry workshop. Oh, and starting to letter another T-shirt. And I really ought to go to sleep so I'll make it to class on time, so the continuation of the first part of yesterday's entry will have to wait for tomorrow. (For those of you on my notify and unnotify lists, the poem in question is "Anyway, I Still Don't Have a Poem," now tentatively retitled "Not Enough." Those of you not on either list can sign up on the index page and/or ask for a copy, or ignore this parenthetical aside. Oh, and for new readers, I should explain that the unnotify list includes any major extra stuff I send the notify list, without the notifications whenever I update. When I redesign this site in January, I'll have to make a page explaining all this.) In the meantime, thank you, Mary Anne. I have much to say in response, but if I try to cover this in a sentence or two, it's not going to work. Just follow the link, y'all, and I'll get back to this next time. In the meantime, I do have a few short observations, typed before this, as I've been adding bits to this entry throughout the night, and this is actually the last section to be written.
Sometimes I wonder why people drive cars at all. (The first of those links was the catalyst for that.)
In the current Sesame Street Star Worms saga, I've been trying to figure out where I'd previously seen the woman from the worms' space agency. I finally placed her midway through today's episode: she was also The Chief on the TV version of Where in the World is Carmen Sandiego? Nice to have that settled.
Tonight's utterly unexpected benefit of switching from Win3.11 to Win98: Lynx has been ported to the latter. It's better than using the version on my ISP. Especially as I can proof these journal entries in it before uploading, now. (Bill Gates never considered this. Trust me.)
Finally, on to tonight's big financial news... much to my surprise, shock, and dismay, I failed to win the lottery. I blame the inferior lottery computer used to generate my numbers, of course. To be precise, the winning numbers were 13, 17, 20, 24, 26, and 27. The bonus number was 39. Of those, I had an entire one number: 20. Oh, well. It's not whether you win or lose, but how you play the game, right?
